Turning customers into friends and providing high-quality equipment are two goals the owners of DRACO Equipment strive to meet each and every day. Located in Idaho Falls, the wide selection of new and used equipment, including excavators, compactors, lifts, backhoe loaders, skid steers, trailers, and snow removal equipment is impressive, and the parts inventory is vast, but the true heart and soul of DRACO Equipment lies not in the machinery, but in the people behind the organization.
Owners Darren and Mikole Andrews started DRACO Equipment out of their home as a way to support contractors who were hit hard by the recession. “We set out to help contractors stay out of bankruptcy,” explains Darren. “So many of them were closing down and I was able to help them sell off equipment.” This passion for helping others propelled Darren and Mikole to remain with DRACO, even when faced with some incredibly difficult personal challenges. Mikole Andrews is a breast cancer survivor, and through the difficult diagnosis and treatment, she kept encouraging her husband to persevere with DRACO. “I just knew the business had to stay open,” she says. DRACO Equipment not only stayed open, but the personal challenges drew the couple closer together and their business continued to grow and thrive.
We set out to help contractors stay out of bankruptcy,” explains Darren. “So many of them were closing down and I was able to help them sell off equipment.”
Not only does DRACO Equipment offer a large selection of equipment and parts right at their Idaho Falls location, but Darren and Mikole are both committed to making sure their customers get the right equipment for the job, even if that means locating and bringing in machinery from all over the country. “We’ve shipped machines as far away as Michigan,” says Darren. The customer support and service offered at DRACO Equipment is second-to-none and keeps customers coming back time and time again.
What started out in a corner of their house is now a successful and established equipment sales and rental business in an updated building on a large lot in a very accessible area of Idaho Falls. Both Darren and Mikole take great pride in caring for every single customer that drives up on the lot, walks through the door, calls them on the phone, or contacts them through the website. Darren Andrews’ philosophy is simple, “I don’t want customers, I want friends I do business with,” he says. “I want every experience with a customer to be a positive one.” Mikole echoes her husband’s sentiments. “It’s so rewarding to be able to help somebody with a rental or sale and know we’re not price-gouging them,” she says. “We’ve gotten so close with our customers and they’ve truly become our friends.”♦
